Let’s face it, there are some downsides to trying to sell your home over the holidays. Many would say it’s not a good idea because, well, it is the Holidays. While some might not think there are any positives to having your home on the market during the December and January months – we do. So instead of focusing on the negatives, let’s take a look at some of the possibilities and benefits to selling your home during the Holidays.

  1. Since many homes are not on the market, competition isn’t as fierce during the season. So that means possibly getting more money for your home.
  2. Those who do show interest or view your home over the Holidays are clearly serious about buying, and should be strongly taken into consideration.
  3. Your home can remain on the market during the season, but you can decide not to have showings for a couple days to a week during the Holidays.
  4. Lastly, how much more fun could you possibly have with staging your home than during the Holidays? Festive music, decorations and goodies make buyers feel welcome and comfortable.

Selling during the Holidays could be somewhat of a trying time so remember, try to stay positive but don’t have unrealistic expectations. If the buyer is pushy or in a hurry, keep in mind that you have the option to sell over the Holidays, and delay the closing until next year. After all it’s only a few days away. Of course whenever questions arise, consulting an experienced realtor is always a good idea.
